Education and degrees

1953-1954 Winning as a high-school student several prizes in the Hungarian High School Competitions in Mathematics and Physics
   
1954-1959 Diploma in Physics at Roland Eötvös University, Budapest,
  Thesis: Slowing down time of neutrons in water
   
1969 Doctor of Physical Sciences (degree given by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, similar to the Russian degree).
Thesis title: Theory of metal-oxide-metal diodes

Positions in Hungary

   
1954-1959 Physics student at the Roland Eötvös University. The research for the diploma was carried out at the Central Research Institute for Physics, where I could not continue my work because of political reasons.
1959-1962 Research Fellow at the Technical Research Institute for Physics, working on semiconductor physics
1962-1988 First as Research Fellow, later as a Scientific Advisor and as a Research Professor at the Central Research Institute for Physics.
1964-1972 Head of the Theory Group
1975-1979 Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Solid State Institute
1979-1984 Co-chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Central Research Institute for Physics. In 1984 I resigned as a protest against the scientific policy of the institute.
